Automatic emails
Steward sends nothing on its own until you turn it on in Settings, What Steward sends automatically. Each email type starts off.
The page lists every email Steward can send by itself: gift receipts, year-end statements, monthly-giving notes, pledge reminders, event confirmations, waitlist offers, auction and fundraiser links, journey steps and campaign emails. Each has one sentence saying what it does, a preview, and a switch. The same switch also sits in the place that uses it, such as an event page or a giving page.
When you turn one on, Steward asks who gets it: everyone, from now on, or only donors you choose. Turning one off is one click.
Each person has their own setting on their profile and in bulk from the Donors list: Follows your settings (the default), Always include (they get the emails you send only to donors you choose), or Never (they get no automatic email at all).
Email for a new organization starts off. Steward turns it on with you once your data is in. Until then the page says so, and anything you switch on waits.
Going out shows what Steward will send in the next 7 days, everything it sent with exactly what it said, and anything it held back and why, with Send for a single one. The small status at the top of every page says whether anything is on.
An email you write and send yourself still goes when you press Send. A sign-in link a donor asks for goes straight away, because the donor asked for it. An import never emails anyone.
